The device (1) has a microscope table (2) for carrying a preparation to be cut. A microscope lens (8) focuses a laser beam (6) on the preparation. A z-adjustment device (4) moves the table in a z-direction. An optical focus displacement device (15) moves a focus of the laser beam in the z-direction. The z-adjustment device and the optical focus displacement device are controlled together by an optical laser-scanning device (10) e.g. mirror scanner, such that the laser beam focus is moved in the preparation along a three-dimensional (3D) sectional line in a x-y-z-direction. An independent claim is also included for a laser-micro dissection method.
