The sublayer (1) has identical cells whose walls are rigid and perpendicular to a surface of the sublayer, where the sublayer is placed between a mattress (2) and a subjacent surface (4). The walls are typically thick, so that the cells deform elastically and are set parallel to the surface of the sublayer in a reversible manner. The cells are tubes attached to one another. Lids (3) for closing trap doors are normally embedded in the subjacent surface. Air contained in the cells thermically isolates the mattress from the subjacent surface.
