PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle speed estimation method based on highly versatile video image processing which estimates a vehicle speed without using image feature quantity extraction.;SOLUTION: A vehicle speed estimation method includes an image processing step (ST3) which processes an image captured by a camera fixed to a vehicle in a computer, to estimate vehicle speed. In the image processing step, a conversion matrix Ai representing mapping for changing an image matrix obtained at a certain point i to an image matrix obtained at the next point (ST3-1), an amount of change between the calculated conversion matrix Ai and a conversion matrix at the previous point (ST3-2), and a vehicle speed at the time i is calculated by use of the calculated amount of change (ST3-3).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2015,JPO&INPIT
