The goal of the present invention is to provide a new anticancer agent, a new method for treating cancer using a combination of anticancer agents, a new method for treating cancer using a combination of new anticancer agents and radiation therapy, as well as a new DNA polymerase inhibitor. The present invention was accomplished upon confirming that MGDG administered in combination with GEM and MGDG administered in combination with radiation therapy each have cancer cell proliferation-inhibiting activity and antitumor activity, and further, upon confirming that MGDG administered in combination with phosphorylated GEM interferes with DNA polymerase enzyme activity.
