The device has a lane recognition device (3) for detecting a first lane boundary, and a second lane boundary projected onto a track surface in response to the first detected lane boundary. An acquisition unit is provided for acquisition of visibilities (4) during e.g. intense rains, snowfall, mists or darkness in a vehicle environment, and the second lane boundary is projected on the track surface based on the visibilities. A projection system (2, 2') i.e. bright projection system such as laser, generates the boundaries. The lane recognition device comprises a radar detector and/or camera. The lane boundaries are designed as a lane mark. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a device for generating a lane boundary for a vehicle.
