Disclosed is a drive mechanism with a single electric motor of two wheels on one side for a 100% low-floor light rail vehicle with an independent wheel pair, wherein two sides of an electric motor (1) are both connected to drive units (4) formed of a geared transmission mechanism (2), the two drive units (4) are arranged longitudinally and centrosymmetrically at two sides of a bogie, the two geared transmission mechanisms (2) are respectively connected to two independent vehicle wheels (3) at the front and rear on the same side of the bogie, such that when output shafts at two ends of the electric motor (1) rotate and output in the same direction, all the vehicle wheels (3) can continue to maintain a consistent forward direction. For a bogie structure with independent vehicle wheels, this form of driving mechanism realises synchronous movement of four wheels and safe steering, increasing working efficiency and putting convenient maintenance in place.
