A video transcoding optimisation method for minimising image quality degradation recognised by a user by comparing subjective and objective video is disclosed. The video transcoding method may comprise the steps of: calculating a quantification index which indicates a gray intensity variation between two frames made by coding video content with different bit rates; deriving a correlation between the quantification index and an image quality assessment index by comparing the quantification index with an image quality assessment index indicating that an image quality difference between scenes coded with different bit rates is quantified through subjective scoring; and transcoding new video content for online service using the correlation between the quantification index and the image quality assessment index.
