An apparatus and method for calling an engineer in a ship are provided. The apparatus includes: a selection module configured to select a specific cabin to be called among a plurality of cabins; a transmission module configured to transmit a calling signal to the selected specific cabin; and a reception module provided in the specific cabin, connected to the transmission module through a network, and configured to receive the calling signal from the transmission module and output the received calling signal. The selection module includes a first module and a second module. The selection module enables an authenticated user to select a specific cabin through the first module, and enables a non-authenticated user to select a specific cabin through the second module. Therefore, installation costs and efforts for maintenance caused by a large amount of hard wires (HW) may be reduced, and utilization of a monitoring control system for a ship may be improved.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
