The present invention discloses a system for evaluating a safety management level of a shipping company and a method thereof. The system for evaluating a safety management level of a shipping company according to the present invention includes: a database (DB) which receives data of institutions related to shipping and a ship respectively, sets intrinsic keys preset to each of the received data per institution, and stores the same; a server module which manages the data according to a user request based on the DB; and an evaluation module which performs safety management evaluation based on the received data per institution according to a preset evaluation algorithm and calculates a safety management total score with the preformed result. The intrinsic key includes an international maritime organization (IMO) number and a merchant ship number.
