The present invention relates to a method to calculate a design hydrograph for a river side detention basin and more specifically, to a method to calculate a design hydrograph for a river side detention basin, capable of suggesting hydrographs of various frequencies indicating equivalent peak flood by separately calculating a design hydrograph for the rainfall of the same frequency and a design flood hydrograph for the equivalent peak flood, and inversely estimating rainfall indicating the peak flood of the same frequency by using the calculated hydrographs.
