PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic pole position estimation device of synchronous motor and a magnetic pole position estimation method capable of reducing restrictions due to magnetic noises from a synchronous motor while ensuring the accuracy in estimation of initial magnetic pole position of a rotor.;SOLUTION: A voltage control section controls a PWM voltage so as to control the current which flows on the respective phases of the synchronous motor at a predetermined current target value; and under constant current control, the voltage control section controls the gates of switching elements for the respective phases of the synchronous motor so as to shut down according to the gate shutdown trigger signal from the storage section. After the gates of the switching elements for the respective phases of the synchronous motor are shut down, a current detection section detects the current which flows on the respective phase of the synchronous motor being attenuated according to a current detection trigger signal from the storage section. An estimation section estimates the initial magnetic pole position of the rotor based on the attenuated current which flows on the respective phases of the synchronous motor detected by the current detection section.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1;COPYRIGHT: (C)2016,JPO&INPIT
