A game providing program causes a computer to function as: a display processing means which displays a character panel region including a plurality of grid elements; a character arranging means which decomposes a meaningful word formed from two or more characters into its individual characters, and randomly arranges said individual characters in the grid elements in the character panel region to fill the plurality of grid elements with characters; a character accepting means which sequentially accepts, from a user, a selection of two or more of the characters arranged in the character panel region; and a character deleting means which, if it is determined that the character string formed in the order in which the characters were selected matches any registered word stored in a dictionary database, deletes the characters forming said character string from the character panel region. When a character is deleted by the character deleting means, the character arranging means supplies a new one of the characters to the character panel region.
