This terminal device and method receive and display monitoring information and are for a monitored-person monitoring system that detects and monitors a monitored person. The device and the method have a plurality of operation modes that include a condition checking mode that is for checking the condition of the monitored person from the time that monitoring information is received until an intention to actually attend to the monitored person is received. When the condition of the monitored person is being checked by another apparatus in condition checking mode, the device and the method prohibit execution of condition checking mode for the monitored person. The present invention is also a monitored-person monitoring system that uses such a terminal device. The present invention is also a central processing device and a central processing method for the monitored-person monitoring system.
