The present invention relates to a method for increasing the photoluminescence internal quantum yield of nanoparticles formed in whole or in part of an AgxMyM'zS0.5x + y + 1.5z nanocrystal (I), comprising at least the steps consisting of: (1) having nanoparticles formed in whole or in part of a nanocrystal whose chemical composition corresponds to formula (I): AgxMyM'zS0.5x + y + 1.5z (I) in which M is chosen from Zn, Cd , Hg and mixtures thereof; M 'is selected from Al, Ga, In, Tl and mixtures thereof; 0 x ≤ 1; 0 ≤ y ≤ 1 and 0 z ≤ 1; said nanoparticles being functionalized on the surface by an organic ligand L1 different from a phosphine ligand; and (2) bringing said nanoparticles into contact with at least one phosphine-type L 2 ligand compound of general formula: PR 3 (II), or its oxidized form O = PR 3 (II '), each of R groups, which are identical or different, being selected from hydrogen, an alkyl group and a cycloalkyl group, said alkyl and cycloalkyl groups being optionally substituted; under conditions conducive to an exchange, at least in part, of organic ligands L1 by said phosphine ligands L2.
