PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diffraction structure capable of suppressing occurrence of grating lobe and being easily manufactured, and a diffraction grating, a diffraction grating array, an optical phased array, an optical modulator, an optical filter and a laser source using the diffraction structure.;SOLUTION: A diffraction structure includes: a support layer 12; high refraction factor layer 16a, 16b that are formed on the support layer 12, have a first refraction factor, and include opening parts 20a, 20b constituting a waveguide passage configured to guide input light Pi input from an input end to a predetermined direction and formed along the predetermined direction; and a low refraction factor layer 14 that is formed so as to cover the high refraction factor layers and charge the opening parts 20a, 20b, and has a second refraction factor smaller than the first refraction factor.
