PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible spline of new structure and a wave gear device using the flexible spline capable of attaining a target rotating output under its superior durability or reliability and capable of selecting a method for taking out a rotating output under a more larger degree of freedom.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a flexible spline 12 of a wave gear device 10, a cylindrical part 40 having external teeth is configured by several pin members 18 arranged in a peripheral direction, the cylindrical part 40 is partially pushed wide toward an outer periphery by a wave generator 16 to cause pin members 18 to be engaged with inner teeth 44 of a circular spline 14 and at the same time at other portions of the cylindrical part 40 in its peripheral direction, the pin members 18 are not engaged with the inner teeth 44 of the circular spline 14, but held by a holding means 42. Further, one of an output member 66 and a fixed member 64 is fixed to at least one of a first pin supporting member 20 and a second pin supporting member 22 supporting both ends of the pin members 18.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
