The invention relates to a process for treating animal skimmed milk and for producing a product based on infant formula from animal skimmed milk, and preferably for producing a nutritional product suitable for feeding children under 2 years old from animal skimmed milk, whose process is highly effective and inexpensive. All components of animal skimmed milk are used to their best potential and the process thus produces almost no residue. Even water can be recycled through the process. By carefully controlling the process parameters, a product is obtained in which most of the major components are within the desired range for an infant formula based product. The invention also relates to products obtainable by the process according to the invention.
