The present invention relates to, hitherto nonexistent, of a magnetic material which has a very high electrical conductivity.This material is essentially a metal matrix nanocomposite and shall henceforth be called conducting magnet. Invention of this conducting magnet has necessitated the invention of another novel processing technique which is the process of synthesis of nanocomposite by high energy ball milling.The invented material is one whose magnetic properties are superior to softest magnetic material like pure iron of low coercivity ; this invented material has a higher magnetization ability at much higher coercivity level .The degree of magnetization of this material is higher than the pure iron under the action of specific magnetic field, yet having higher coercivity and remnant magnetism.This magnetic material has high electrical conductivity , far greater than that of the pure iron, that is 8.65x104S/cm (lx105S/cm highly pure );invented nanocomposite is made to posses electrical conductivity three times higher than pure iron. The conductivity of the invented material is comparable to that of high conducting EC grade aluminium. This nano composite makes use of carbon nano tubes as reinforcing material in an ultra fine grained iron matrix. The microstructure of this conducting magnetic comprises of grains of almost pure iron with uniformly dispersed multi wall carbon nano tubes; the nano tubes in nanocomposite is distributed in such a way as to from a conducting channel,The electrical conductivity of this material is quite high and is in between aluminum and copper.The conducting magnet contains a threshold value of MWCNT (Multi-walled Carbon Nanotubes) content at which highest degree of magnetization is realized.The invented conducting magnet is meant for use in magnetic devices.Thus it reduces the material content of device of specific functionality which requires both magnetism and conductivity; moreover high coercivity insures a higher life of the device.
