INDIVIDUAL PORTABLE DEVICE AND METHOD OF ORIENTATION IN MOTION, MEANT TO BE USED BY PERSONS SUFFERING FROM SEVERE SIGHT DEFICIENCIES

The invention relates to a portable device and to a method of orientation of persons with severe sight deficiencies, while moving. The claimed device consists of a frame to be worn as a pair of glasses (1) on which there are some distance and temperature sensors (2, 4), an accelerometer (3) with gyrocompass with two earphones (5), connected, by means of a data and supply cable, to a microcontroller (6) and a supply source (7) to be attached to the user's belt or clothes. The claimed method comprises a preliminary stage of executing an autotest with the purpose of determining if the distance and temperature sensors (2 and 4) are ready to be used and if the measured values are correct, after which a normal operation duty cycle begins, consisting in processing the information delivered by sensors (2, 4) during the scanning of the proximity area in order to detect and avoid objects, maintaining, by means of the accelerometer (3), a preset travel path, while the user is acoustically warned when an obstacle appears or when the travel path is deviated from its preset course.
