A cosmetic method for improving a sign of aging comprising applying to the skin an effective amount to improve a sign of aging of: (a) an extract selected from the group consisting of wood extract of Paulownia tomentosa, wood extract of Paulownia fortunei, Paulownia elongata wood extract, Paulownia kawakamii wood extract, and combinations of two or more thereof, or (b) paulownin.
