The present disclosure is related to medicine, specifically, its main function is the evaluation of the cognitive response and attention by using the information of the cerebral hemodynamic response automatically. This method solves the problems of acquisition, interpretation, high cost and processing time of the techniques commonly used to determine mental states, such as functional magnetic resonance or functional electroencephalography, implementing instead, the technique of near infrared functional spectroscopy in conjunction with a hierarchical multiclass classifier based on vector support machines. The main benefit is that this classifier does not have zones that cannot be classified, common error in most hierarchical classifiers.
