Provided is an optical tracker system for tracking a position and orientation of a first object. The system comprises: a prediction module provided to determine a predicted position and orientation of the first object as spatial prediction; a display module provided to generate a display command for a reference symbol based on the spatial prediction; a display unit provided to display the reference symbol based on the display command; a camera unit provided to capture an image of the reference symbol displayed on the display device as a captured appearance; and a position determination module coupled to the camera unit and provided to receive an image from the camera unit. The position determination module is configured to identify the reference symbol and to determine the position and orientation of the first object based on the captured appearance of the reference symbol.
