The present invention provides a smart watch using an ionic-polymer-metal-composite and an operating method thereof, capable of performing the navigation function by providing an intuitive tactile signal to a user. The smart watch includes: a body for generating route guidance information based on destination information and location information generated based on user input and outputting an electric signal corresponding to the route guidance information; a strap portion connected to both sides of the body for fixing the body to a user′s body; and an IPMC thin film portion accommodated in the strap portion to receive an electric signal output from the body. The IPMC thin film portion is formed of an ionic polymer metal composite material having a predetermined size. The body has bending and/or torsional driving characteristics of the body by using the bending behavior and/or the torsional behavior of the ionic polymer metal composite material according to an electric signal output from the body.
