The present invention provides Leuconostoc mesenteroides CJNU 0041 strains with high β-glucosidase activity, and describes technical contents related to a composition for preventing, treating, or alleviating colitis which comprises a fermented broccoli product fermented by the Leuconostoc mesenteroides CJNU 0041 strains as an effective component. The composition of the present invention includes the fermented broccoli product fermented by the Leuconostoc mesenteroides CJNU 0041 strains with high β-glucosidase activity as an effective component, and thus can effectively inhibit the growth of Clostridium difficile strains, which is causative virus causing colitis and can be used for the prevention, treatment or alleviation of colitis.
