To provide: a sweet potato shochu in which the smoothness and sweet smell are intensified as well as the alcohol odor left behind is reduced; a sweet potato shochu-containing carbonated beverage; a method for producing sweet potato shochu; and a sweet potato shochu flavor improving method.SOLUTION: The sweet potato shochu according to the present invention is a sweet potato shochu which is a pot distillation shochu and in which the content of lactic acid is 15 to 150 ppm and the content of β-citronellol is 90 to 300 ppb. Further, the sweet potato shochu according to the present invention is a mixed shochu in which the mixing ratio of a pot distillation shochu is A%, and the content of lactic acid is 15×A/100 to 150×A/100 ppm and the content of β-citronellol is 90×A/100 to 300×A/100 ppb.SELECTED DRAWING: None
