To eliminate a drawback of a method of housing an earphone in a portable information terminal or a protective cover integrated with a portable information terminal, the method being proposed to solve the problem of an earphone to be used with a portable information terminal, the problem including the earphone's cord becoming entangled or being difficult to be found at the time of being carried, the drawback including bulkiness of a device including the earphone and difficulty in coping with various types of earphones.SOLUTION: Convex bodies are provided at at least two positions on an upper part and lower part of the inner surface of a spine part of a book-type protective cover for a portable information terminal. A cord of an earphone is wound between the convex bodies, which enables the cord of the earphone to be housed in a space between the inner surface of the spine part and the portable information terminal's side surface.
