Correlation of stack segment strength in emerging relationships

A specific method for sequentially analyzing a series of thread dump samples to estimate stack segment strength statistics for a newly classified stack frame is disclosed. Embodiments can detect bifurcation points along one or more linearly connected stack frames of stack segments associated with a filter state. Upon detecting a branch point along one or more linearly connected stack frames of the stack segment, some embodiments may divide the stack segment into a plurality of new stack segments, each including a subset of stack frames. Multiple new stack segments are referenced by the stack segment. Next, embodiments can initialize the filter state of each of the new stack segments based at least in part on the filter state of the stack segment.
