The present invention relates to a composition containing tangeretin as an active ingredient for alleviating, preventing or treating renal fibrosis or cirrhosis of kidney glomerulus or albuminuria. Through an increase in the expression of nephrin and podocin in podocyte of the kidney glomerulus and a decrease in generation of type 1 collagen and pro-collagen in glomerulus human renal mesangial cells (HRMC), the expression of albumin in urine is reduced to exhibit effects of alleviating, preventing or treating renal fibrosis or cirrhosis of kidney glomerulus or generation of albuminuria.
