The present invention relates to a process for the production of a distal sleeve (10) for a catheter (100), comprising at least the steps of: (a) providing a tubular element (20); (b) generating at least two recesses (30, 32, 34) on a sleeves edge region (22) of the tubular element (20) and thereby forming at least two serrated projections (40, 48, 56) on the sleeves edge region (22); (c) forming the at least two triangular projections (40, 48, 56), with a reduction in a distance of the respective distal projection ends (42, 50, 58) of the at least two triangular projections (40, 48, 56) as well as with the formation of at least two, by means of the at least two triangular projections (40, 48, 56) of limited through openings (70, 72, 74); and (d) connecting the at least two triangular projections (40, 48, 56) at least on their respective distal projection ends (42, 50, 58) in the formation of a common connecting area (80). In addition, the invention relates to a distal sleeve (10) for a catheter (100) as well as a catheter (100) with a distal sleeve (10).
