The invention relates to a building material, such as an ecological geopolymer and to a process for preparing the same. According to the invention, the material comprises 35...37% power-plant ash, 15...17% glass powder, 27...29% sodium silicate solution and 19...21% sodium hydroxide solution 10 M, the percentage being expressed by mass. The process, as claimed by the invention, consists in mixing the previously dried and screened power-plant ash, with a grain size of less than 80 μ m, with dry glass powder having a grain size of less than 100 μ m, in a mixer, where alkaline activator consisting of a mixture of sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide solution is added, the composition is stirred for 10 min, after which it is poured into moulds, subjected to vibrations and left to dry at the ambient temperature for 24 h, the resulting material having a resistance to compression of 9...12 N/mm, after 7 days.
