A colored gold-coated thread and a method for manufacturing gold embroidery by means of the colored gold-coated thread, comprising: preparing embroidery threads, preparing colored gold-coated threads and colored fixing threads on the basis of the same color in a one-to-one correspondence manner; preparing an embroidery base material, placing, on the embroidery base material, a pattern to be embroidered; preparing embroidery tools; fitting the embroidery base material to a frame, using a frame fitting rope to fix the embroidery base material to the embroidery frame; and embroidering on said pattern. The colored gold-coated threads each comprise a thread sheath and a core, the thread sheath being made of colored glitter threads having metallic lustre, the core being made of twistless rayons or soft and smooth cotton threads, the thread sheath being spirally wound and twisted around the surface of the core to form a soft and smooth cylindrical colored gold-coated thread having metallic lustre, and there are a variety of colors of colored gold-coated threads.
