A method and an apparatus for processing of leather objects (30) comprising a process chamber (34), a controllable compressor (36) for pressurizing a fluid, a pressure reducing member (44), an inlet (54) for a processing agent (56) and a controller (40), wherein said process chamber (34) is configured in the form of a pressure chamber, said controllable compressor (36) for pressurizing a fluid is configured for introducing pressurized fluid into the process chamber (34) from a source of said fluid, controlled by the controller (40), and for providing a predefined pressure in the process chamber (34) in order to reach a supercritical state of said fluid, and wherein said inlet (54) for said processing agent (56) is configured for facilitating introduction of said processing agent (56) into the process chamber (34) prior to, during or subsequent to pressurization of the fluid, and wherein said pressure reducing member (44) is configured for gradually reducing the pressure of the pressurized fluid to reach a gaseous state subsequent to the processing of said leather objects (30).
