The present invention proposes a cloud-based Wi-Fi network architecture consisting of a central unit (CU) and remote access unit (RAU) as an improvement of the existing Wi-Fi architecture with an access point (AP). In addition, the present invention proposes a method for uplink data transmission in a cloud-based Wi-Fi network. In the conventional Wi-Fi network with independently operating APs, APs in close proximity to each other cannot efficiently utilize the same frequency band due to a significant amount of interference. However, in the cloud-based Wi-Fi network, the CU can adjust the RAU to transmit and receive signals over a shared wireless medium to operate on the same frequency band, improving spectral efficiency.
