A production method in which the cost of acidic xyloligosaccharides is reduced by the present invention, including a step of depolymerizing a plant-derived raw material, and a deacetylation step of bringing the solution of the product obtained in the step to pH 11 or higher by adding a base. A method for producing acidic xyloligosaccharides, and acidic xyloligosaccharides having an acetyl group content of 0 to 5.0% by mass are provided. The production method using acidic xyloligosaccharides having an acetyl group content of 0 to 5.0% by mass as a raw material of the present invention can yield polypentosan sulfate in high yield.
