The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating influenza, comprising the extract of Sargassum fusiforme as an active ingredient, the extract having antiviral activity against influenza virus, and excellent antiviral activity compared to other algae extracts of the same species. By confirming that, it is expected that the extract of the present invention can be usefully used in the development of medicines for preventing or treating influenza, health functional foods, animal feed additives or natural antiseptics.
