A unit space generating device (141) that generates a unit space for use in diagnosing an operational state of a facility based on a Mahalanobis distance is provided with: a sample data acquisition unit (141A) that acquires a sample data group representing a plurality of state quantities of the facility which are measured with a fixed period; an acceptance determination unit (141C) that determines whether the sample data group is to be accepted as a unit space generation data group serving as a basis for a unit space, based on an acceptance probability calculated every time the sample data group is acquired; a unit space generation unit (141D) that generates unit spaces based on the plurality of assumed unit space generation data groups; and an output value acquisition unit (141B) that acquires an output value of the facility corresponding to the sample data group.
