Provided by the present application are a method for controlling route iteration. The method comprises: a first network device receiving border gateway protocol (BGP) routing information from a second network device, the BGP routing information comprising a destination address, a next hop address to the destination address and attribute information, wherein the attribute information indicates the manner in which the first network device performs route iteration processing on the next hop address. The first network device determines a manner of performing route iteration processing on the next hop address according to the attribute information. The described method helps to simplify network operation and maintenance, save on labor costs, and improve the accuracy and efficiency of network management.
