PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for inhibiting or preventing photophobia.SOLUTION: Anti-CGRP antibodies or antibody fragment thereof that inhibit CGRP-associated photophobia are useful in treatment of various photophobia-associated disorders including migraine and cluster headaches. The invention also provides an assay using a transgenic Nestin/Ramp1 CGRP rodent, a CGRP model light aversion behavior model, for identifying anti-CGRP antibodies and fragments thereof having therapeutically effective CGRP-binding properties for inhibiting or preventing photophobia in a subject in need thereof. In particular, the invention relates to a method for identifying antibodies and fragments thereof having CGRP binding properties that are therapeutically effective and usable for treating CGRP-associated photophobia such as migraine.
