PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for inhibiting or preventing photophobia.SOLUTION: Anti-CGRP antibodies or antibody fragment thereof that inhibit CGRP-associated photophobia are useful in treatment of various photophobia-associated disorders including migraine and cluster headaches. The invention also provides an assay using a transgenic Nestin/Ramp1 CGRP rodent, a CGRP model light aversion behavior model, for identifying anti-CGRP antibodies and fragments thereof having therapeutically effective CGRP-binding properties for inhibiting or preventing photophobia in a subject in need thereof. In particular, the invention relates to a method for identifying antibodies and fragments thereof having CGRP binding properties that are therapeutically effective and usable for treating CGRP-associated photophobia such as migraine. In particular, the invention relates to an assay and therapy using the antibody or fragment thereof for inhibiting or preventing photophobia, as well as the V, Vand CDR polypeptide sequences of the antibody or fragment thereof and polynucleotide sequences encoding them.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 42
