The project developed and implemented an in-service program for facultydevelopment in gerontology. The goal of the project focused on expanding gerontology education in institutions of higher education in the Detroit metropolitan area, with special attention on minority aging and culturally sensitive issues. The program provided training for 26 faculty representative of multiple disciplines from Wayne State University and six other colleges and universities within the Detroit metropolitan area. The twelve-month program provided; (1) formal training in gerontology; (2) assistance with integration of gerontological concepts into the participants' respective disciplines; and (3) a basis for the increased professional identification of participating faculty and institutions with gerontology and the practitioners in the field. Products disseminted included gerontology curricula and unit guides for several disciplines.
