Imports and Exports of Fishery Products, Annual Summary 2007

U.S. imports of edible fishery products in 2007 were valued at $13.7 billion, $0.3 billion more than in 2006. The quantity of edible imports was 2,425,084 metric tons, a decrease of 24,384 tons from the quantity imported in 2006. Imports of nonedible fishery products were valued at $15.1 billion, $0.7 billion more than in 2006. Total value of edible and nonedible fishery imports was $28.8 billion in 2007, $1.1 billion more than in 2006, when $27.7 billion of fishery products were imported. U.S. exports of edible fishery products of domestic origin in 2007 were 1,263,778 tons valued at $4.0 billion, compared with 1,306,706 tons at $4.0 billion exported in 2006. Exports of nonedible products were valued at $13.6 billion. Exports of fish meal amounted to 104,602 tons valued at $71.7 million. The total value of edible and nonedible exports was $17.6 billion, $2.0 billion more than in 2006.
