The report presents the results of a national public opinion survey, sponsored by the National Science Foundation and performed from October to December 1979, to investigate public attitudes toward science and technology. This report, in two volumes, discusses the method and presents the results. Volume I describes the sample design, its selection, and the associated sampling errors. It also describes the procedure for data collection and contains a Codebook with the response frequencies for all questions.
