Subjective vs Bibliometric Assessment of Biomedical Research Publications

During the 1970s bibliometrics (the quantitative analysis of research publications) was developed into a useful tool for the evaluation of biomedical research support programs and policies. The report summarizes several of the investigations that Computer Horizons staff members conducted in the course of that effort; it demonstrates the validity of bibliometric methods and the utility of the construct in evaluating biomedical research programs.
