The report describes a two-phase experimental program to examine the feasibility of removing trace metals (Cu, Ni, Co, Zn) from stockpile effluent using readily available materials in low-cost, low-maintenance systems. Volume II is a literature review of several low-cost materials which might be used for removing trace metals from stockpile drainage. The materials included peat, humic acid, fulvic acid, other organics, soils, and tailings. The methods employed in the investigations review ranged from laboratory experiments to field scale studies.
