X-Ray Diffraction Study of Residual Stress in Model Weldments. Final Report

摘要

Residual stress in a model weldment in nickel plate was characterized using x-ray diffraction techniques. The stress was mapped in 2 mm divisions up to the boundary of the weld pool. Results were in generally good agreement with the stress levels previously predicted for this system by finite element studies at LLNL. Recommendations are made that would permit 1 mm exp 2 spatial resolution maps of residual stress in stainless steel weldments. (ERA citation 06:017109)
