The benefits arising from the following accomplishments of DOE's Office of Health and Environmental Research (OHER) were estimated: (1) standardization of modular instruments (CMAC, NIM); (2) energy dispersive x-ray fluorescence spectrometry; and (3) gamma-ray spectrometry.
