VNC Hotcell Examination of Six High-Exposure Fuel Rods from the Monticello Power Reactor

Six high-exposure fuel rods from an 8 x 8 fuel bundle were examined at the Vallecitos Nuclear Center (VNC) hotcells as part of a Department of Energy sponsored BWR Fuel Bundle Extended Burnup Program. The fuel rods were from Fuel Bundle MTB-072 which had been discharged from the Monticello reactor in February 1980 at an average exposure of 33.8 GWd/MT. This report presents results of the visual examinations, neutrography, coil and pulsed eddy current testing, crud analyses, clamshell studies and metallographic examinations. (ERA citation 08:043745)
