Potential Contributions of Molecular Genetics to Plant Breeding

In the near future (10 to 15 years), the contributions to plant breeding technology from molecular genetics, while useful, will be more modest than spectacular claims have led many to expect. These contributions will come in two areas: the development of analytical technique and in the detailed analysis and explanation of biological phenomena related to plant breeding.
