This material contains vugraphs and suggested narrative for a two hour module on the Computer-aided Acquisition and Logistic Support (CALS) initiative for the Management of Acquisition Logistics Course (MALC) at the Defense Systems Management College at Ft. Belvoir. It is designed to give an understanding of the nature and scope of the DoD CALS initiative; its application to weapon programs; and the benefits expected from CALS. The outline is what is CALS; why CALS; where are we going; how and when will we get there; major system/equipment implementation; technical aspects; issues; and summary. Most of the material was derived from the 1988 OSD CALS Report to the Appropriation Committee for the House of Representatives and drafts of the CALS Program Implementation Guide (MIL-HDBK-59).
