摘要

For micropropagation, sucrose is widely used, as it is the major source of carbohydrate in the media. The present study involving different forms of sugars on micropropagation of Musa paradisiaca Linn, var Grand naine revealed that highest rate of shoot-multiplication can be obtained in the medium containing fructose (3%) instead of sucrose (3%). When elevated CO_2 (20 g dm~(-3)) concomitant with reduced levels of sucrose was provided as the carbon-source during shoot-multiplication, maximum number of shoots were regenerated in the medium containing 2% of sucrose. When fructose (3%) was used instead of sucrose (3 %) under the same concentration of CO_2 enrichment, shoot-multiplication increased remarkably.
